ICC ODI World Cup: Sachin Tendulkar, the Indian cricket sensation, holds the distinction of being the second player with the most appearances in Cricket World Cup matches throughout history. Commencing his career in 1989, Sachin remarkably participated in six World Cups spanning from 1992 to 2011.

Initiating his international journey at a tender age of 16, precisely in the year 1989, Sachin Tendulkar’s illustrious cricketing tenure endured for an impressive span of 24 years. Throughout this extensive expedition, he not only achieved the distinction of being the player with the most appearances in two conventional formats but also secured the title of the highest run-getter in both Test matches and ODIs.

In addition to concluding his career as the top run-scorer in two formats, Tendulkar also holds the distinction of participating in a remarkable six World Cups. The former captain of the Indian team marked his World Cup debut in 1992 and subsequently took part in the succeeding five tournaments (1996, 1999, 2003, 2007, and 2011), each time performing under the leadership of a different captain.

1. Most Runs

Sachin Tendulkar boasts a unique record in World Cup matches, amassing a total of 2278 runs, including a remarkable highest score of 152 runs. Notably, this establishes an impressive margin of almost 500 runs over the player in the second position, Ricky Ponting, in terms of runs scored. Within these runs, Tendulkar notched up an impressive count of 6 centuries, marking the highest number of centuries ever achieved by a player in the World Cup.

2. Most Centuries

Sachin Tendulkar hit his first century in his second World Cup appearance in 1996. He scored an unbeaten 127 against Kenya. Soon after, he managed another century, scoring 137 against Sri Lanka in the same tournament. He achieved his third century against Kenya again in 1999, with a score of 140* in Bristol. His fourth century came in the game against Namibia. Even in his last World Cup in 2011, Tendulkar showed his skills by scoring 120 in a tied game against England and 111 against South Africa.

3. Most Runs in Single Tournament

During the 2003 World Cup held in South Africa, Kenya, and Zimbabwe, Sachin Tendulkar solidified his status as one of the premier One Day International (ODI) batsmen in history. He amassed a remarkable total of 673 runs in 11 matches during this tournament, setting a record for the most runs scored in a single edition of the World Cup.

4. Most Fifties

In addition to transforming six fifties into centuries, Tendulkar also claims the record for the highest number of half-centuries in World Cup history, with a total of 15. He secured three half-centuries in his debut tournament in 1992, followed by an additional three in 1996. Remarkably, he achieved six half-centuries during the 2003 World Cup, another one in 2007, and concluded with two more in the 2011 World Cup.
