ICC T20 World Cup 2024: On Saturday, India Vs Canada became the third consecutive match to be abandoned because of the rain. The rain has played a very big part in this tournament and has affected various results throughout.
The worst thing on Saturday was that even though the rain died down, the match could not start due to the wet outfield. The situation was also similar during the England Vs Namibia match, but that match was able to start.
This situation has led to both fans and experts getting frustrated and furious towards ICC and their management. Cricketing legends like Sunil Gavaskar and Michael Vaughan also jumped in and criticized ICC for the way they have handled the tournament so far.
“All This Money…”
Sunil Gavaskar is quite frustrated with the way the tournament is progressing. Fans are gathering on the ground but are not able to see the match. The legend lashed out at ICC and urged them to cover the entire ground.
He stated “My request to the ICC is to ensure there is cover for the entire ground if there is an ICC match. If the venue doesn’t have the covers, don’t give it to that venue. Give it to a ground that has all the covers.
It’s something that the ICC needs to do. All the ground organizations have to have covers that cover the entire ground. In this business of covering only the square everybody has got money now.
You can’t give the excuse that you don’t have money for covers. However, good your ground drainage system is, you have covered, the grounds will dry faster. People will get to see some cricket.”

Former England skipper Michael Vaughan also jumped in and tweeted the same thing. He stated, “How we don’t have more covers to cover all the ground is beyond me .. all the money in the game yet we still get games called off for wet outfield !!!!”
