ICC T20 World Cup 2024: It looks like ICC does not want to leave any stone unturned in making T20 World Cup 2024 a success. After a scandalous and controversial World Cup in 2021, this is the time to step up.
The ICC ODI World Cup 2023 was a success and the apex cricket council wants to repeat that once again. That is why they are doing everything in their power to make sure that the new stadiums of the USA deliver.
The ICC T20 World Cup 2024 will be held in the USA and West Indies respectively. The USA will host the high-octane match between India and Pakistan. That is why there were doubts regarding the pitches in these new stadiums. But new updates have given everyone clarity on how much ICC is working on it.
ICC T20 World Cup 2024 On Drop-In Pitches
New reports suggest that the pitches for the three stadiums in the USA were made in Adelaide, Australia under expert supervision. Damian Hough, who is a pitch curator at Adelaide Oval, himself is looking after these drop-in pitches.
Hough stated “We aim to produce pitches that have pace and consistent bounce, on which the players can play their shots. We want entertaining cricket, but there are challenges.” The expert pitch curator is excited and anxious about these new pitches.
“I have mixed feelings. I am excited, but I am a bit anxious at the same time. There are still unknowns. This is a long process. What we do know is we’ve given it our best shot. We’ve thoroughly thought through every possible outcome and issue along the way and we’re hoping that they’re going to be some good cricket pitches.”
Trouble For India?
Indian teams have always struggled on Australian pitches no matter the format. So, if these new pitches are anything like Perth, Indian batsmen will once again have a hard time against Pakistan. It will be exciting to see cricket on these pitches after the lackluster 2021 T20 World Cup.
