ICC T20 World Cup 2024

Former Indian skipper Gautam Gambhir has urged Sanju Samson to show his potential in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

ICC T20 World Cup 2024: Sanju Samson is one of the most talented players in the world. He makes batting look easy and has been phenomenal in the ongoing IPL 2024 so far. Even when Rajasthan looked shaky, he was there to pull them out of the trouble.

His impressive performance earned him a place in the T20 World Cup squad as a Wicket Keeper alongside Rishabh Pant. Many fans and experts think that Sanju will play a huge part if India wins the trophy.

Sanju’s former skipper and World Cup winner Gautam Gambhir also thinks that. Many people don’t know that Sanju started his IPL career in KKR back in 2012 when Gambhir was the captain.

‘Win ICC T20 World Cup 2024 For India’

Sanju will play his maiden ICC tournament for the Indian team in June. Gambhir acknowledged the 29-year-old as a match-winner and urged him to start winning matches for India now.

“Now that you’ve gotten picked in the World Cup team, you have that opportunity. The kind that you need to make sure you start winning games for India if you get the chance. You have that experience of playing international cricket. You are not a newbie that you will wait any longer.” Gambhir stated.

He further stated “You have tasted international cricket and you’ve done well in the IPL, and now you have the chance to play the World Cup. So, hopefully, Sanju shows the world what he is capable of at this stage. International cricket, that too in a stage like the World Cup, when you flourish, the whole world watches and takes note.”

‘Knew His Potential’

Samson might have not featured for Kolkata in 2012, but Gambhir surely acknowledged his potential. “Just the quality of a player. I don’t need to see much. Five minutes are enough to figure out what kind of a player he is. Mentally, you always grow, and skill-wise as well.”
