ICC T20 World Cup 2024: It is said that life and sports are a circle and everything comes back around. It must be true, especially for India and Australia in the ICC Tournaments, because no matter what, these two sides will always face each other in the knockout stages.
Once again, these two sides are scheduled to face each other in the Super 8 fixture of the T20 World Cup. This will ignite the heather rivalry between these two nations, and India has a chance to exact revenge against their bitter rivals.
The Aussies have been a thorn in the Men In Blue’s path to glory. The loss in the ODI World Cup 2023 and World Test Championship 2023 finals still hurts the Indian team and the fans.
Time For Revenge?
India defeated the United States team courtesy of a half-century by Surya Kumar Yadav and qualified for the Super 8. The Men In Blues joined South Africa and Australia and became the third team to proceed in the tournament.
ICC has set pre-seeded Super 8 groups and according to that India and Australia will be in the same group. The two bitter rivals are set to face each other on June 24th in a confirmed fixture.
ICC T20 World Cup 2024: The Seedings
According to the pre-seedings, Afghanistan and Bangladesh will be the two other sides that can be placed into the Super 8 group of India. The Pre-Seedings are as follows:
- A1 – India
- A2 – Pakistan
- B1 – England
- B2 – Australia
- C1 – New Zealand
- C2 – West Indies
- D1 – South Africa
- D2 – Sri Lanka
If any of the seeded teams fail to qualify for the Super 8, the team which qualifies takes up their spot.
The Super 8 Groups will look like this:
- Group 1: A1,B2,C1,D2
- Group 2: A2,B1,C2,D1
With New Zealand, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka almost out of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, they will be replaced by Afghanistan, the USA, and Bangladesh respectively.
