ICC T20 World Cup 2024: The Indian cricket team has begun arriving in the United States for the T20 World Cup 2024, which starts later this week. Among the latest to leave for the tournament were Yuzvendra Chahal and Avesh Khan, who were spotted at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai on Monday night.
Indian Cricketers Arrive in the USA for T20 World Cup 2024
Chahal, a key player in India’s 15-man squad for the T20 World Cup, and Avesh Khan, one of the traveling reserves, will join their teammates who landed in New York earlier on Monday. The reserves include Shubman Gill, Rinku Singh, and Khaleel Ahmed, who are also set to join the squad in the US.
In a video shared by ANI on X, Chahal and Avesh were seen entering the airport, with Avesh turning his phone towards the paparazzi, revealing he was on a video call with Rinku Singh, who will travel to the US on Tuesday.
The first batch of Indian players, including the skipper Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, and Axar Patel, departed from Mumbai on Saturday night. After a short layover in Dubai, they arrived in New York on Monday morning.
According to Star Sports, the team will rest for the next two days before beginning their practice sessions. India is set to play a practice game against Bangladesh on June 1, and they will commence their World Cup campaign against Ireland on June 5.
