ICC T20 World Cup 2024: The exclusion of Rinku Singh from the T20 squad has been the biggest talking point since the squad was announced. Almost every expert, pundit, and fan had Rinku in their dream squad.
No one in their wildest dream thought that Rinku could be left out of the squad traveling to the USA and West Indies. But, in the end, selectors went with Shivam Dube, who is having a sensational season himself.
While being asked about the exclusion of Rinku, BCCI chief selector Ajit Agakar stated that it is not Rinku’s fault. It was the toughest decision they had to make but he just missed out on the selection.

Ajit Agarkar stated “Rinku Singh exclusion was the toughest decision. It’s got nothing to do with Rinku. We felt Rohit can have an extra spin option with two wrist spinners. He is in the reserves so that’s how close he was”.
The chief selector also stated that the exclusion of Shubman Gill was also a tough choice but in the end, we wanted to have a balanced combination. Both of these players were close to being picked but in the end, other options were chosen.
‘I Wanted Four Spinners’
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma further touched on having an extra spinner in the squad. He stated “I wanted 4 spinners in the squad. I won’t say the reason for that here, I’ll let you know in the USA.”
It is true that the conditions in the USA will be unknown as every ground is new. India will face Pakistan in the apex clash in the USA and the Indian skipper wanted all kinds of combination for that.
