Kane Williamson is getting thrashed online for his dismissal in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 against Afghanistan.

ICC T20 World Cup 2024: Afghanistan defeated New Zealand for the first time in the history of the T20 World Cup. They were defeated and thrashed the Kiwis by a margin of 84 runs. This victory has made the Afghans’ road to the Super 8 easy.

On the other hand, It is a wake-up call for the BlackCaps. Not only do they have to take this format but picking players who have not played for a while in T20i should also be avoided.

Fans are thrashing the New Zealand team for this loss and the biggest victim of this thrashing has been Kane Williamson so far. Experts and fans are shocked at his careless dismissal. Fans even state that he should retire from this format and only focus on Test Cricket.

‘He Should Retire’

Williamson got out in the seventh over of the match when the BlackCaps were already in trouble. But the way he got out is the real shame and it felt like he had no sense of responsibility. He sliced the delivery by Rashid Khan to the slip intentionally where there was already a fielder.

The dismissal completely bamboozled the commentary as they had no idea what Williamson had done. It completely shows the lack of T20i game time of the Kiwis’s skipper.

Before the match, CSK coach Stephen Fleming also showed his worries regarding the lack of match practice of Williamson. But after this abysmal performance, his head is on the line as the Kiwis might not make it to the Super 8 if they lose to West Indies.

ICC T20 World Cup 2024: ‘They Outplayed Us’

Kane Williamson accepted the fact that Afghanistan completely outplayed them in the post-match interview. He acknowledged the fact that Afghans were better than them and stated this as a wake-up call for the Kiwis. Which it is, because from here the chances of qualification for the Top 8 are slim.

The Kiwis have to play against West Indies in a decider match and if they lose that match their journey in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 will end tragically.
