ICC T20 World Cup 2024: It looks like India reaching the semi-finals is not sitting well with a few Pakistani players and fans. While players like Shoaib Akhtar and Wasim Akram were delighted by India’s performance and victory.
On the other hand, Pakistan’s former skipper Inzamam-Ul-Haq has leveled serious allegations against Arshdeep Singh. The left-arm pacer was sensational against Australia and took 3 wickets to settle the score.
Instead of praising the performance by the pacer, Inzamam stated that some kind of ball-tampering had been done to achieve that kind of reverse swing. That is some serious allegations towards the bowler and something that should be avoided by such a legend like Inzamam.
“Umpires Should Be Attentive”
Inzamam praised the innings by Rohit Sharma and then started spewing his venom. He stated that if a player like Arshdeep is reverse-swinging the ball in the 15th over, then something is wrong.
“Arshdeep Singh was getting a reverse swing in the 15th over. The umpires should be attentive as the ball started reverse-swinging as early as 15th over which meant that it was being readied by the 12th-13th over.
“I am saying this because there might have been an uproar if it had been done by Pakistan. We know what reverse swing is. And if someone like Arshdeep is getting reverse swing in the 15th over, it means some serious work was done on the ball,” Inzaman stated.
ICC T20 World Cup 2024: Rusty Blames Harsi Rauf
The incident that Inzamam was referencing came during the Pakistan Vs USA match. Former South Africa player Rusty Theron tweeted while the match was going on and stated that Haris Rauf was tampering with the ball.
His tweet read “Are we just going to pretend Pakistan isn’t scratching the hell out of this freshly changed ball? Reversing the ball that’s just been changed 2 overs ago? You can see Harris Rauf running his thumbnail over the ball at the top of his mark”
But to blame Indian players for the same foul play is quite low. Various Pakistani players have questioned India’s performances in the past. But this is a new low even by their standards.
