ICC T20 World Cup 2024: It was a very weird 48 hours for the Afghanistan team who went from sheer jubilation to a humiliating defeat against South Africa. Afghanistan defeated Bangladesh to qualify for their first major ICC tournament semi-final.
But the semi-final did not go the way they expected as the whole team buckled down on just 56 runs. The Proteas chased down the target very comfortably and reached their first-ever ICC final.
It was a sad day to be an Afghanistan fan but this team will only rise from here. This was just one of those nights where things did not connect for them. Well, former English skipper Micahel Vaughan thinks differently as he blamed ICC for such rigorous scheduling and stated that the apex cricket board is favoring India in this World Cup.
ICC T20 World Cup 2024: Unfair To Others
As the Afghanistan side faced a collapse, Vaughan went to Twitter and criticized the rough scheduling here Afghans did not have time to practice. This was a fair criticism as the side did not have even 1 day of preparation time.
But as the first inning got over, Vaughan started blaming the ICC for favoring India. He stated that the venue chosen for the first semi-final was nowhere near fair for the Afghans.
The English legend stated that Guyana(where India Vs England) will be played would be more suitable for Afghans. “Surely this Semi should have been the Guyana one .. but because the whole event is geared towards India it’s so unfair on others..” wrote the English legend.
Netizens Reply
This accusation did not sit well with the Indian fans as they trolled and criticized the legend for this tweet. The replies were vile and quite sarcastic as the Netizens reminded Vaughan of how England won the 2019 ODI World Cup and how the WTC final is always played in England.
The second semi-final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 will be played in a few hours. But there is a rain scare and if that happens, India will reach the finals directly and you can already predict the blame game then.
