ICC T20 World Cup 2024: A few days ago, Pakistan senior journalist, Mibashir Luqman made serious allegations against Babar Azam and Pakistan Cricket Team. The allegations have put the team’s integrity and sportsmanship in danger.
In his video, Luqman stated that several Pakistan players were involved in match-fixing. There was no proof to these allegations and Luqman based all of it on a very expensive car owned by Babar Azam.
Fans urged PCB to take some action and clear this out. Well, it was obvious that the Pakistan Cricket Board wouldn’t have stayed silent for much longer considering the previous nature of the allegations. PCB came out swinging and had a stern reply to these allegations.
Stern Reply By PCB
The board released a statement and stated that all these allegations are baseless and there is no proof. PCB trusts its players and does not think it is necessary to conduct an inquiry.
The statement by PCB read “We are fully aware of these negative comments. Criticism within the bounds of the game is acceptable and there is no objection to it. However, baseless allegations like match-fixing cannot be tolerated under any circumstances.
On being asked whether the board will hold an inquiry or not, the source replied “PCB has no doubts, so why should we conduct an inquiry? Those who made the allegations should provide proof. We have instructed our legal department to issue notices to such individuals and demand evidence. If not provided, we will seek compensation for defamation. A new law in Punjab ensures that a decision will come within six months.”
ICC T20 World Cup 2024: Worrisome Situation
All of these allegations and cruel behavior against Pakistan players are happening because of their exit from the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. A few days ago, a Pakistani fan abused Haris Rauf post-exit.
While getting frustrated and angry is fine, one should refrain from such behaviors and allegations like these. There have been no words from Luqman’s side since PCB made the statement.
