ICC T20 World Cup 2024: The Indian team is firing on all cylinders in the tournament so far. They have all their areas covered and look solid in every area of the match. It looks like they have nothing to worry about.
Except Shivam Dube, who has been unable to provide what he was supposed to. Came in the team as an explosive hitter to finish the games for ICT, Dube has been underwhelming so far in the tournament.
Not only in batting, he has shown some worrying signs in the fielding department as well against Pakistan. Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid have a huge decision ahead of the USA clash, whether to play him or not in the match.
Replace Shivam Dube?
The Indian skipper chose Dube over other players because of his bowling. But he was not given even a single over against Pakistan and that raises a question. If Dube is not bowling, what does he provide to the side?
The ICT can easily bench Dube for a pure batsman and still have 6 bowling options, which are more than enough for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. So, is it time to inject a new player into this team to provide more stability in batting?
The management has two options to choose from. Either they can replace Dube directly with Sanju Samson with no further change. Or they can introduce the flair of Yashaswi Jaiswal.
Virat Kohli has been struggling in the opening spot in the tournament. Jaiswal can give him his preferred position back and the opening pair will also be more threatening.
ICC T20 World Cup 2024: Struggling Jadeja
Another worrisome news for ICT is the struggling Ravindra Jadeja. Jadeja has not been on top of his game with the bat. He is still bowling at a very high level, but when you are only allowed to bowl two overs in a match, wouldn’t Kuldeep Yadav be a better choice for that?
