ICC T20 World Cup 2024: India Vs Pakistan was a slobber knocker and was one of the closest matches of the tournament so far. India might have clinched the match by 6 runs, but there were lots of negatives for the Men In Blue as well.
Especially in the batting department where it looked like every Indian batsman gifted the wickets to the Pakistan team. The Rohit Sharma-led side is batting with an approach of do-or-die. But on the pitch of Nassau County International Stadium, can this approach work?
Many experts and fans have criticized the decision-making of the Indian batting order. Former Indian international Sunil Gavaskar also jumped to the party and criticized the decision-making of both Rohit and Kohli.
Not Good Cricket!
Sunil Gavaskar stated that the cricket shown by Indian players was not good. He praised the bowlers but also stated that the Indian skipper wasted some time by not introducing Jasprit Bumrah earlier in the match.
He stated “Our batters just went for the big shots and got out. They eventually got out in the 19th over as well. That is not good cricket. And the bowlers, they were the ones. The bowlers seldom get credit in Indian cricket. Good to see them.
Jasprit Bumrah, I thought he should have bowled the first over and not the third over. Why Waste 12 deliveries? Give it to your best bowler.” It was the same when Hardik Pandya used to introduce Bumrah at the end of the powerplay in IPL 2024.
ICC T20 World Cup 2024: Worrisome Situation?
While we might have won the match, it is a worrisome situation. Not only in New York, the pitches in the West Indies will also aid bowlers. So, will this strategy of going out on every delivery work in this tournament?
It is something that the Indian team should think about because we might have won against Pakistan but it will be troublesome in the later stages of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
