IND vs AFG: Virat Kohli and Naveen-ul-Haq appear to have put their longstanding rivalry to rest, signaling a new era of sportsmanship as they were spotted exchanging handshakes and sharing a friendly side hug during the India vs. Afghanistan match in the ongoing 2023 ICC World Cup held in Delhi on Wednesday.
Virat Kohli & Naveen Ul Haq end their rivalry
The feud between these two cricketers began earlier this year during the Indian Premier League when Kohli and Naveen engaged in a fiery confrontation while playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore and Lucknow Super Giants, respectively.
In the aftermath of their on-field clash, Naveen took to social media to mock Kohli, particularly when the Indian cricket star was going through a challenging phase with his batting. As this ongoing rivalry escalated, cricket enthusiasts eagerly anticipated the clash between Kohli and Naveen in Delhi, hoping for another intense battle between the iconic Indian batsman and the unpredictable Afghan fast bowler.
However, the spectators witnessed a wholly unexpected turn of events as Kohli and Naveen exchanged pleasantries during India’s pursuit of 273 runs at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. It appeared that Naveen took the initiative after the 27th over, approaching Kohli, who was batting at 19 at that point. They shook hands, and Kohli even gave him a side-hug and a friendly pat on the back.
Earlier in the game, when Naveen walked out to bat during Afghanistan’s innings, the Delhi crowd playfully taunted him with chants of “Kohli, Kohli.” Videos capturing this moment quickly went viral on social media.
