IND vs AFG T20 World Cup 2024: Rohit Sharma and his troubles against the left-arm pacers continued as Fazalhaq Farooqui got him during the first Super 8 clash. It was a horrendous batting show from the skipper as Farooqui was over him throughout.
The Indian team had a positive start when Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bat first. It was a correct decision as the already slow pitch is only going to get even slower with each passing over.
Before the match, Proteas legend Dale Steyn warned Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma against Farooqui. He stated that the left-arm pacers can knock their pegs up anytime. And it looks like his prediction was true.

Fazalhaq started dominating Rohit Sharma from the first over. The Indian skipper was not able to break the line and length of the left-arm pacer at all. He swung and missed four balls in the first over.
Farooqui was called back to bowl his second over and after two underwhelming overs, all the pressure was on Indian openers. They had to break through from this web and score a little bit faster.
That is when Farooqui struck on the 5th delivery when Hitman decided to go over the circle. He got on his knees and tried a slog sweep which took a top edge and went high in the air. It was a simple catch for Rashid Khan who made no mistake at all.
A Milestone For Fazalhaq
With this wicket, Farooqui has completed 50 wickets in T20i cricket. He achieved this milestone in his 39th inning, with a terrific average of 18.76 and best figures of 5/9.
