IND vs AUS: During their ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 opening match against Australia at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday, India achieved a dubious record as three of their top four batsmen recorded ducks in a single ODI innings for the first time.
India’s troubled start
Just on the fourth ball of the first over, Ishan Kishan was out for a duck when Mitchell Starc got him out. He was caught out by Cameron Green for a duck on his world cup debut. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma was given out LBW in just the third ball of the next over as he was unable to judge the line by Hazlewood. He took review but to no avail.
While Ishan played a careless shot, Shreyas Iyer too departed on the fifth ball of the second over in a similar style as he was caught out by David Warner. The Aussies scored 199 runs in their first innings. Currently, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli are on the crease with the hopes of starting the world cup campaign with a victory.
