Travis Head and Nathan Lyon’s stunning performance
The target appeared to be challenging for Australia at one moment as they were reeling at 13/1 after ten overs. However, Travis’ head decided to change gears and handed over the victory to his side. Opener Usman Khawaja was out on just the second ball of the innings with a score of zero. Marnus Labuschagne scored 28 off 58 and had a crucial partnership with Travis. This marks another test match in the series which ended up within 3 days.
Indian bowlers, who took, six wickets for 11 runs in the first innings failed to put a significant impact in the second inning. Only Ashwin could pick a wicket (of Usman Khawaja) while every other bowler went wicketless.
Australia’s Nathan Lyon put on a stunning display by taking eight wickets as India was knocked out for just 163 runs in the second innings, giving Australia an easy 76 run target. Lyon’s remarkable numbers of 8 for 64 managed to overshadow Cheteshwar Pujara’s efforts, who managed to score the most runs for India with 59.
