IND vs AUS: After losing the first match in Mumbai, Australia has bounced back and is well alive in the series. In the second match at Visakhapatnam today, the formidable Australia defeated team India by a margin of ten wickets. Men in Blue witnessed a batting collapse as they could muster just 117 runs in 26 overs, before being bowled out. Indian bowlers could not prove to be of even a remote contest as visitors chased down the target within 11 overs i.e. with over 234 balls to spare. The entire game lasted for just 37 overs in total.
Fiery batting from Aussies
Coming to chase a relatively easy target of 118, the Australian team began on an aggressive note and continue to hit the ball for big hits. Opener Mitchell Marsh scored 66 off 36 balls, hitting five boundaries and six maximums, playing at a strike rate of 183.33. Whereas, Travis Head scored 51 off 30, hitting ten boundaries in his fiery knock, playing at a strike rate of 170.0. None of the Indian bowler could pick a wicket in today’s match.
This was also India’s lowest ODI total against Australia in home conditions. Seven players were dismissed for a single-digit score. The three-match ODI Series is now levelled at 1-1, the series decider match is slated to take place on 22nd March at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.
Indian batting collapse
Earlier, coming to bat first, India had a disappointing start. Men in Blue lost the opener Shubman Gill (0 off 2) on just the third ball. Skipper Rohit scored 13 off 15 balls. Virat Kohli remained the highest run scorer with 31 off 35 balls, hitting four boundaries. Axar Patel played a brilliant cameo in the end scoring 29 off 29 balls, which took India to a respectable total. Jadeja scored 16 runs off 39 balls, while no other player could breach the double-digit mark. Mitchell Starc picked up a five wicket haul, his ninth in ODIs. Abott picked three wickets while Nathan Ellis grabbed a couple of wicket as well.
