IND vs AUS: India maintained its command of the game on the fourth day of the fourth Test match between Australia and India in Ahmedabad, with Virat Kohli making a century and Axar Patel playing a blazing inning to take the fight to the Aussies. Recently, a video of Axar hitting a huge six has been going viral on social media.
Axar Patel smashes massive six
After partnering with Ravindra Jadeja and KS Bharat for fifty runs each, Kohli carried on his excellent form by scoring his 28th Test century and stitching together a 162-run partnership for the sixth wicket, which put India in complete control of the match.
The Australian bowling attack faced a tough challenge from Kohli and Axar, especially the latter who went on a rampage after completing his half-century. The Ahmedabad crowd was treated to some fantastic batting by their hometown hero, as Axar hit three sixes and one four in just 10 balls. The first of these sixes was particularly impressive, as Axar smashed Matthew Kuhnemann out of the park. Left-handed batsmen often enjoy facing left-arm spinners due to the angle, and Axar made full use of this advantage by lining himself up, bending down and slog-sweeping the ball for an impressive 80-meter six.
The ball flew into the stands, where a young fan was left disappointed after dropping it. However, Virat Kohli had a perfect view of the action from the non-striker’s end, and he thoroughly enjoyed watching Axar’s six. Kohli tracked the path of the ball and couldn’t contain his excitement at how cleanly Axar hit it. With a huge smile on his face, Kohli acknowledged his hit as the match continued.

Axar Patel played a crucial knock of 79 off 113 balls, while Kohli fought through cramps and lack of support from other batsmen to reach 186 before getting caught at deep mid-wicket. Unfortunately, Shreyas Iyer was unfit to bat, and India’s innings eventually closed at 571/9, giving them a lead of 91 runs in the first innings against Australia, who had scored 480 runs in their first innings.
