IND vs AUS: Axar Patel continued his impressive form with the bat, notching up his third fifty in international cricket and his second of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Delhi on Saturday. The left-handed all-rounder had played a crucial inning of 84 in the Nagpur Test, which had helped India take control of the match and ultimately clinch a resounding victory by innings and 132 runs.
Axar Patel goes big while reaching fifty
On the second day of the Delhi Test, Australia’s Nathan Lyon had rattled the Indian top order with a five-wicket haul, leaving India reeling at 135 for 6. It was then that Axar Patel walked out to bat and put up a solid fight against the Australian bowlers. Along with Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar stitched together a valuable partnership that not only helped India recover from the early slump but also put them back in the contest.
Axar’s fifty came off just 94 deliveries, and he reached the milestone with a delightful six off debutant Matt Kuhnemann’s bowling. The left-hander’s resilience and composure in tough situations make him a valuable asset for the Indian team, and his fine run with the bat has helped them turn the tables on the Aussies in the ongoing Test series.
