IND vs AUS: India and Australia are playing a three-match ODI series at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, starting today. India chose to bowl first and their bowlers, led by Mohammed Shami, performed exceptionally well by bowling out the Australian team for just 188 runs. In the process, India also broke their own record for the fastest time taken to dismiss the Australians.
New record for Men in Blue
Men in Blue had set a record in 2001 by taking all Australian wickets in 35.5 overs in a game played in Indore. But in the match played today i.e. on Friday (March 17) in Mumbai, India improved their previous record by dismissing the Australian team in 35.4 overs. However, the overall record for the quickest dismissal of the Australian team still belongs to New Zealand, who accomplished the feat in just 24.2 overs in 2016.
Mohammed Shami was the star performer for the Indian team as he took 3 wickets for just 17 runs in the match. Mohammed Siraj also put up an impressive performance, finishing with figures of 3 wickets for 29 runs. Hardik Pandya (1/29), Ravindra Jadeja (2/46), and Kuldeep Yadav (1/48) were also successful in taking wickets.
Upcoming IND vs AUS matches
The second ODI match will be played on 19th March in Visakhapatnam while the third and final will be played on 22nd March in Chennai. Soon after, players will joins their respective IPL teams as the tournament begins on 31st March.
