IND vs AUS: Hardik Pandya’s leadership skills as India’s captain have been nothing short of impressive. He is remarkably clear about his vision for the team, including the preferred players and approaches he wants to take. Every time he has taken the field as the captain, he has displayed an unprecedented side that sets him apart from others. In the first ODI as well, he was seen having an animated chat with the umpires after Mitchell Marsh pulled off from batting at the last moment.
Hardik Pandya turns angry
India had a dream start after winning the toss and opting to bowl first. In just a second over, Mohammed Siraj rattled the stumps of Travis Head, putting India on the front foot. However, Steve Smith and Mitchell Marsh quickly regained the momentum for Australia, with Marsh smashing three fours off Siraj’s next over. In the sixth over, Siraj was interrupted in his run-up by the stand-in Australia skipper, Steve Smith, who had some issues with the sight screen.
However, when the same thing was repeated during Hardik Pandya’s over in seventh over, he did not take it lightly. After Marsh pulled out due to moving around the sight screen area, Hardik was visibly furious. He was in the middle of his third delivery when this happened, and he had an animated discussion with umpire Nitin Menon, even glaring at Marsh while walking back to his mark. It remains unclear whether his anger was directed towards Marsh or the spectators.
