In Cummins’ absence, Steve Smith will take charge of the team in the third Test match. Smith has previously captained the Australia team but was banned from the position after the ball-tampering controversy. Since then, he has served as the team’s vice-captain. It is expected that he will be able to lead the team to victory in the upcoming match. After being ruled out of the third Test, Cummins said, “I have decided not to return to India at this time.” He expressed his appreciation for the support he has received from Cricket Australia and his teammates, adding, “Thank you for your understanding.”
