IND vs AUS: In the absence of a designated vice-captain for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in the Indian team, Rohit Sharma has been seeking guidance from senior players. Cheteshwar Pujara briefly assumed the team’s captaincy during Rohit Sharma’s absence, but on Day 5 of the Australia series, Virat Kohli acted as a de facto vice-captain, working with Rohit to develop a strategy alongside Axar Patel.
Virat Kohli’s guidance
A video clip circulating on social media depicts Rohit Sharma and Axar Patel engaged in a discussion about the ideal pitch locations for the ball. This exchange appears to have taken place during the interval between two overs. Later on, Virat Kohli joined the conversation, providing input and identifying an area on the field that could be used.
Despite the Australian batters exhibiting impressive defensive skills and the pitch providing minimal assistance, the fourth Test appears to be headed for a draw. However, it’s worth noting that India has already secured their place in the World Test Championship final, thanks to New Zealand’s exciting 2-wicket triumph over Sri Lanka in Christchurch.

India had just two possibilities to qualify for the WTC final: either defeat Australia with a margin of 3-1 or rely on New Zealand. At present, even if Sri Lanka wins the next Test, they will only reach 52.78 points, which would be less than India’s 56.94 points. With Kiwis stunning victory, India qualified directly into the WTC finale.
