IND vs AUS: After a clinical 2-1 victory in the test series, Men in Blue have begun the ODI series on the same note as well. In the first match at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, team India have defeated Australia by five wickets. KL Rahul scored a valiant 75 off 91 and guided India to victory in a troubling situation, he was well accompanied by Jadeja who scored 45 off 69. Chasing 189 runs, Men in Blue faced issues initially but KL counter-attacked and led to the victory line. Hardik Pandya was the skipper for today’s match as Rohit Sharma was unable due to family commitments.
KL Rahul and Jadeja’s classy knock
Chasing the target, India had severe setbacks initially as the top order was sent packing to the pavilion for just 16 runs. Opener Ishan Kishan scored 3 off 8 before being dismissed by Stoinis. Then, Mitchell Starc bowled a fiery over in which he dismissed Virat Kohli (4 off 9) and Suryakumar Yadav (0 off 1) on consecutive balls. Eventually, team India was reduced to 16/3. However, Gill continued and scored 20 off 31.
Later in the chase, KL Rahul once again showed his class and scored 75 off 91 balls, guiding India to victory. Skipper Pandya scored 25 off 32 balls whereas Ravindra Jadeja scored 45 off 69. The partnership between Jadeja and KL Rahul ensured a smooth victory for the Men in Blue. Starc picked a three-wicket haul while Stoinis picked a couple of wickets as well. India managed to chase down the target within 39.5 overs.

Shami and Siraj’s fiery spell
Earlier, Hardik Pandya won the toss and decided to bowl first in this highly anticipated clash. The bowling unit did not disappoint and started picking up wickets from the start itself. Opener Mitchell Marsh was the highest scorer with 81 off 65, hitting 10 boundaries and five maximums. Josh Inglis scored 26 off 27, while skipper Steve Smith scored 22 off 30 balls. Team had scored 128/2 but stunning performance by bowlers resulted in their batting collapse as they were bundled out eventually for 188 runs in 35.4 overs.
Mohammed Shami picked three wickets while giving 17 runs only in 6 overs. Siraj also picked a three-wicket haul while shelling just 29 runs whereas Ravindra Jadeja picked a couple of wickets as well. Skipper Hardik Pandya and Kuldeep Yadav grabbed a wicket.
