IND vs AUS: India dropped to No. 2 in the ODI rankings on March 22 when Australia, led by Steve Smith, defeated them 1-2 in a three-match series. At Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium, they were defeated by 21 runs in the third and final game of the series.
India won their eighth straight one-day international
In January 2023, India surpassed New Zealand 3-0 at home to take the top spot. After that, they defeated Sri Lanka 3-0 to keep up their impressive streak. India established a 1-0 series lead over Australia after defeating them in the opening one-day international at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. Moreover, India won their eighth straight one-day international, and they appeared to be in good shape going into the World Cup later this year. The Australians, on the other hand, displayed steely nerves to win the second and third ODIs at Vizag and Chennai, respectively.

Men in Blue dropped their first ODI series at home
India dropped to No. 2 in the ICC ODI rankings after losing the series, but they are equal with Australia on 113 rating points. After losing to Australia 2-3 in March 2019, the Men in Blue also dropped their first ODI series at home. Australia scored 269 runs in just 49 overs after deciding to bat first. To help their team set a difficult target for India, several of their batters played into their 20s, 30s, and 40s. Each of Kuldeep Yadav and Hardik Pandya took three wickets. Virat Kohli led India in run-chase with 54 runs, but he was unable to save a loss for his squad. Adam Zampa, who finished with outstanding numbers of 10-0-45-4, was the Australians’ preferred bowler.
