IND vs AUS: During India’s pursuit of 277 runs in the first ODI against Australia, they faced a challenging moment when they lost three wickets in quick succession after a solid opening partnership of 141 runs between Shubman Gill and Ruturaj Gaikwad. At this point, Ishan Kishan came to the crease with India’s score at 151/3. He chose to adopt an aggressive counter-attacking approach to steer India out of their predicament. However, his aggressive intent almost led to an unfortunate incident where the umpire narrowly avoided being struck by the ball.
Umpire narrowly survives horrific accident
During the 28th over of the game, Adam Zampa delivered a full-length ball targeting the middle and off stumps. In response, Ishan Kishan unleashed a powerful stroke. The impact of the shot was so intense that even the umpire, KN Ananthapadmanabhan, couldn’t react quickly enough. In a tense moment, the umpire, in an effort to avoid the speeding ball, stumbled and fell to the ground, narrowly avoiding an unintentional collision.
In this heart-pounding sequence, the umpire’s safety was at risk, but luckily, Adam Zampa extended his hand just in the nick of time. He managed to deflect the ball away from the umpire, preventing any harm. After regaining his balance, the umpire couldn’t help but chuckle at the incident, relieved that he had escaped unscathed.
