IND vs AUS: Shreyas Iyer was the sure thing for India on number 4 for the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. Then the injury happened and everything went on a spiral and derailed. It was a tough time for the batsman.
He missed the entirety of IPL 2023 and then missed a few Indian series as well. Asia Cup 2023 was also a forgettable outing as he suffered a back spasm and had to sit out of the competition.
From being the sure thing to being sure to sit on the bench, the times must have been frustrating for Iyer. But now he is back and he is claiming his spot back from all his doubters. A sensational century in the second ODI and he is back in the spot.
Iyer Sensational Century
India lost their first wicket early in the third over and then Iyer came to bat. He had no pressure whatsoever even after all these months. He was batting freely from the start and took the Aussies to the cleaners.
The inning included 11 fours and 3 sixes and no bowler was spared. It was amazing to see how easily he was bashing everyone all around the ground. Such sensational batting is a delight to see.
His partner Shubman Gill has also scored a century and is going strong towards that number 1 rank. Iyer tried to hit long right after his century and lost his wicket because of that.
IND vs AUS: Cramp Alert!
As soon as Shreyas Iyer finished his century, he suffered a cramp. It was completely visible from his expression that he was in discomfort. As a result, he lost his wicket as soon as he finished his century.
