Shubman Gill, after losing his opening partner Ruturaj Gaikwad early, initially played cautiously but later accelerated his innings, scoring runs confidently. He partnered with Shreyas Iyer (105) and together, they forged a remarkable 200-run partnership for the second wicket. Gill now boasts an ODI average of over 66, making him the second-highest among batters with at least 1,000 runs in this format.
During his innings, Gill struck 6 boundaries four maximums. This century marked his fifth ODI century of the year, and he has amassed over 1,100 runs in ODIs in 2023, making him the highest run-scorer in this format for the year. Shubman Gill notched up his sixth ODI century in his 35th innings, surpassing 1,900 runs in ODIs. He now holds the record for the highest number of runs scored by a batsman after 35 innings in ODIs. Gill has also crossed the 1,200-run mark in ODIs this year. Notably, this was his first century against Australia.
