Shubman Gill’s aggressive century in IND vs AUS
With increasing expectations from the young opener to perform well after his unsuccessful performance in the previous Test, where he managed only 21 and 5 runs in both innings, Gill was under immense pressure to deliver with the bat. Taking an aggressive approach early on in his innings, the 23-year-old opener demonstrated his intent when he stepped out against Nathan Lyon in the final over of Day 2, smashing a massive six over long-on.
In the first session of Day 3, he continued with his aggressive stroke play, even after Rohit’s dismissal at 35. Gill achieved his half-century in just 89 deliveries and then focused on building a strong partnership with Pujara and taking their time at the crease. Moments before the tea session, Gill made his second Test century, which was a remarkable achievement.
India inching closer to lead
After Pujara’s dismissal, Kohli arrived at the crease and congratulated Gill for his excellent performance. Usman Khawaja and Cameron Green both scored exceptional centuries for the team, while Ravichandran Ashwin picked up his 32nd five-wicket haul for India.
