India faces worst ever defeat

India’s batting line-up crumbled against Australia in the second ODI with only Virat Kohli and Axar Patel making a decent contribution. Mitchell Starc, Nathan Ellis, and Sean Abbott made it difficult for the Indian batsmen. Rohit Sharma, who returned as the skipper, couldn’t perform as he was dismissed early by Starc.

Indian bowlers failed to defend a paltry total of 118 runs as Mitch Marsh and Travis Head of Australia chased down the target with ease in just 11 overs. The duo put up an unbeaten 121-run partnership, leaving the Indian bowlers with no answer.

Rohit Sharma recently spoke to the broadcasters about India’s poor performance in the second ODI against Australia. The captain expressed disappointment in the team’s inability to perform to their potential and overcome the tough bowling from the Australians. He also praised Mitchell Starc’s exceptional performance, labeling him as one of the best in the game.

What did Rohit Sharma say on IND vs AUS ODI?

Rohit stated, “It is disappointing. No doubt about that. We didn’t play to our potential. We didn’t apply ourselves with the bat. We always knew that was not enough runs. It was not a 117 pitch at all. By no means. We just didn’t apply ourselves. [Starc] is a quality bowler. He’s been doing it for years for Australia with the new ball. He kept bowling to his strength and we kept falling to his strength. That’s something that we need to understand and play accordingly. All their bowlers bowled really well and put us under pressure.”

Following a huge loss to Australia, India is gearing up for the third and final ODI to level the series. With both teams winning a game each, the decider promises to be a thrilling contest. Meanwhile, cricket fans are eagerly waiting for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League.
