IND vs AUS: Steve Smith will continue leading the Australian team in the upcoming three match ODI series as well. Cummins had to fly back home after the second test in Delhi to be with his mother, who was undergoing cancer treatment. Even though he was expected to rejoin the team for the third Test in Indore, Cummins decided to stay with his ailing mother, who unfortunately passed away. After Steve took captaincy, he managed to win the third test and draw the fourth one.

Pat Cummins’ absence will be felt in Australia’s forthcoming three-match series against India, as he chose to stay back with his ailing mother, who recently passed away. Steve Smith will lead the team in the series. The Australian squad will have to rely on their 15 players, as no replacement has been announced for Cummins.
The Australian cricket team will be facing a few changes in their upcoming three-match series against India. Jhye Richardson won’t be participating due to a hamstring injury, and Nathan Ellis has been called in as a replacement. The series will start on Friday in Mumbai. Steve Smith will be leading the team, marking Australia’s fourth captain in the last five ODIs. This was prompted by Aaron Finch’s retirement during the September series against New Zealand, which led to Pat Cummins taking over as captain.
However, Josh Hazlewood was captain during the second game of the series against England in November when Cummins was rested. Hazlewood’s Achilles injury now disqualifies him for the upcoming series, paving the way for Smith, who has already led Australia in 51 ODIs.
