IND vs AUS: In the fourth Border-Gavaskar Test between India and Australia, Indian captain Rohit Sharma made a rather unconventional decision to bring in top-order batsmen Shubman Gill and Cheteshwar Pujara to bowl. However, despite this interesting move, the match ended in an early draw as both captains agreed to declare the game.
Gill and Pujara’s bowling
When Day 5’s final minutes drew near, Indian captain Rohit Sharma made the unusual choice to bring in Shubman Gill to bowl some off-spinners, which turned out to be a decent move as he only allowed one run—off a single by Marnus Labuschagne—to be scored. Cheteshwar Pujara bowled a leg spin over in the following over, allowing just one run to be scored. But, with the score at 175-2 and Gill about to start his second over, Australian captain Steve Smith made the call to end the inning.
Shubman Gill, who scored a stunning century of 128 runs in the first innings could not complete the second over of his spell. However, fans were left in awe as they saw these two star batters bowling probably for the first time.
