The Indian captain achieved an outstanding milestone by surpassing Sachin Tendulkar’s record for the most runs scored by an Indian in ICC white-ball tournaments.

India lost three wickets for just two runs, with Rohit, Kishan, and Shreyas in the pavilion with ducks. Throughout his innings, Kohli not only showcased his exceptional batting prowess but also eclipsed Tendulkar’s enduring record in ICC tournaments.

In the match, Virat Kohli scored 85 runs off 116 balls, hitting six boundaries. He partnered with KL Rahul for the Highest partnerships for the 4th wicket or below for India in the WC of 165 runs. This was also Kohli’s third-highest score in ICC ODI World Cup.

Tendulkar, frequently regarded as the GOAT (Greatest of All Time), had accumulated a total of 2719 runs in 58 innings in ICC white-ball tournaments for India. Kohli’s extraordinary achievement was accomplished in just 64 innings, emphasizing his remarkable consistency and skill as a global run-scorer. In addition to Tendulkar and Kohli, the current Indian captain Rohit Sharma stands as the only other player to exceed the 2000-run milestone in ICC tournaments while representing the Indian team.
