IND vs AUS WTC Final 2023: Winning the toss, Rohit Sharma elected to field as India takes on Australia in the high-stakes clash at Kennington Oval. The decision paid off with Mohammed Siraj dismissing the dangerous Usman Khawaja early in the fourth over. Labuschagne came in to the crease following the dismissal, and was sledged in the start itself by Siraj. This did not end here as one of Siraj’s brutal ball injured him on the thumb.
Siraj’s brutal ball injures Marnus Labuscghane
Marnus Labuschagne entered the field following Khawaja’s departure. Although he managed to score a single off the first delivery he faced, he has encountered difficulties in facing the Indian fast bowlers on the green pitch at the Kennington Oval.
In the eighth over of the Australian innings, Labuschagne was struck on the hand by a well-pitched delivery from Mohammed Siraj, which unexpectedly gained extra bounce. The impact caused him to lose his balance and inadvertently lose his bat, which fell to the ground.
Despite displaying signs of discomfort at that particular moment, Labuschagne demonstrated resilience by carrying on with his batting in the middle. The team’s physiotherapist ran to assess his condition immediatly, and Labuschagne also opted to take painkillers to remove any discomfort.
