IND vs AUS WTC Final 2023: After five days of intense battle at the Oval, London, Australia have finally beat the Indian cricket team to win their first-ever World Test Championship. Chasing a mammoth total of 444 runs in the final innings, the Indian team had a good start but the constant fall of wickets, especially on the fifth day, ended their run once again in the WTC as Australia beat Men in Blue by 209 runs. India had lost the first WTC earlier in the year 2021 while playing against New Zealand. This year, they managed to qualify once again but lost in the finals. Now, India has appearances in both the WTC finals but has managed to win none. On the other hand, Australia now has all the trophies in their name i.e. now they have won the ICC trophy in every format of the game. Overall, this is their 9th ICC trophy.
Australia clinches WTC 2023
Australia has emerged as the first team to achieve victory in all major ICC tournaments. Their remarkable record includes triumphs in the ODI World Cup in 1987, 1999, 2003, 2007, and 2015. Additionally, they secured back-to-back victories in the ICC Champions Trophy in 2006 and 2009.
Breaking their drought in the T20 World Cup, Australia clinched the title in the 2021 edition held in the United Arab Emirates. Under the leadership of Aaron Finch, they overcame New Zealand in the final, marking a significant milestone for Australian cricket.
On the other hand, India faced their fourth defeat in an ICC final since their last title win in the 2013 Champions Trophy held in England. India had previously finished as runners-up in the 2014 T20 World Cup, the 2017 Champions Trophy, and the previous edition of the World Test Championship in 2021, where they were edged out by New Zealand. This latest loss adds to the disappointment for the Indian team in ICC finals.
