IND vs BAN: On Day 3 of the first Test match between India and Bangladesh, Cheteshwar Pujara finally broke his four-year-long century drought as he achieved the three-digit milestone. Pujara has finally scored the century after a gap of 1443 days gap.

Pujara smashes his fastest century ever

Before India’s KL Rahul-led team declared and gave Bangladesh an onerous 512-run victory target during their second innings, Pujara had amassed an unbeaten 102 off 130 balls. The first fifty Pujara made came from 86 balls, while the following 52 came from just 43 balls, making this his fastest Test hundred ever.

He had amassed the century after 52 innings. During the Border-Gavaskar series against Australia in January 2019, he scored his most recent century. At a strike rate of 78.46, 13 boundaries were scored by Pujara in his 19th century. Earlier in the game’s first innings, he was out after facing 203 balls for a score of 90. India’s first-inning total of 404 runs was aided by Pujara’s 90-run performance.

Shubman Gill scored his maiden test hundred today

On Day 3 in Chattogram, Shubman Gill earlier reached his first Test century, scoring 110 from 152 balls. He hit three sixes and ten boundaries during his knock. As soon as Pujara reached his century, India declared their innings, giving Bangladesh a 513-run winning margin at Chattogram.

In the year after he was benched from the team in February, just before the team’s home series against Sri Lanka, Pujara has struggled in international cricket. However, the 34-year-old right-handed batsman put in a lot of effort during the County Championships in England and delivered reliable performances for Surrey, earning the Indian team a second call-up for the fifth Test, which was postponed for Edgbaston.
