IND Vs BAN ICC ODI World Cup 2023: Virat Kohli is one of the best batsmen in the world right now. He has a habit of making headlines with his bat, but the India vs Bangladesh group-stage match saw something else.
For the first time in six years, we saw King Kohli making headlines with the ball in his hand. The return of Right Arm Quick Bowler was met with jubilant cheers from the crowd as Kohli was in his element.
But the decision to let Kohli bowl came after a sad and worrisome incident. Skipper Rohit Sharma gave the ball to Kohli after Hardik Pandya left the ground limping due to an ankle injury.
IND Vs BAN ICC ODI World Cup 2023: Kohli With The Ball
Hardik Pandya suffered an ankle injury in the ninth over of the match. After spending five minutes with the physio on the ground, he left the field limping. The over was still incomplete and Rohit Sharma was looking for someone to finish the over.
In a rare sight, the skipper summoned Virat Kohli and gave him the ball. This was the first time in six years that Kohli had bowled in a One Day International match. With his trademark weird run-up, Kohli bowled three balls and completed the over.
He conceded only two runs and bowled on perfect lengths. There was a slight swing as well and it was refreshing to see.
Internet Meltdown
The internet went into a meltdown after these three deliveries. Fans were delighted to see Kohli bowling after such a long time. As the Indian skipper has already said both he and Kohli will be ready to bowl at any time, it was a perfect example of that.
