IND vs BAN: Team India won the second match by three wickets today in Mirpur. With the victory, Men in Blue clinched the series by 2-0 and kept their hopes of reaching WTC finals strengthened. However, in India’s second innings, when the team almost had a batting collapse before Ashwin and Iyer heroics, an embarassing record got registered by the openers.
Shubman Gill and Pujara create embarassing record during IND vs BAN
In the second innings of Bangladesh’s second Test match in Mirpur, Shubman Gill and Cheteshwar Pujara were both stumped. This is just the third instance when two of the top three batters for India have been stumped in a Test match. This kind of dismissal last happened in the year 1936 and 1962. On a personal score of 7 runs and 6, Gill and Pujara, respectively were stumped by wicket-keeper Nurul Hassan on the delivery of Mehidy Hasan Miraz.
India win the series by 2-0
With an unbeaten 42, Ravichandran Ashwin led the way for India, and Mehidy Hasan (5-63) was the standout bowler for Bangladesh. In their previous one-day international series, Bangladesh had won by a score of 2-1. Virat Kohli and KL Rahul could not to much in the series and their form has come as a concern before the home series. After Rohit Sharma’s thumb injury, KL Rahul was made the stand-in skipper.
With this victory, India has defeated Bangladesh 2-0 in the two-match Test series. Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Shakib Al Hasan took five and two wickets, respectively, while Team India was attempting to chase 145. Later, a magnificent 71-run partnership between Shreyas Iyer and Ravichandran Ashwin propelled Team India to a three-wicket victory. Axar Patel also scored 34 runs in addition to them. Axar took three wickets for India while Ashwin and Mohammed Siraj each took two.
