IND Vs ENG: They say it’s better late than ever. Indian women proved it when they took 23 years but they managed to pull off an ODI series win on English soil as skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and [acer Renuka Thakur led India to an unassailable 2-0 series win at the St Lawrence Ground in Canterbury. While batting first, India posted a massive score of 333/5. Harmanpreet scored her fifth ODI hundred and a maiden fifty in the format from very talented Harleen Deol. England were came to chase down the target but they only managed to 245, after Renuka Thakur took four-wicket haul. It has been a breakthrough season for her.
Harmanpreet and Deol made a partnership of 113 runs
After the early wicket of Shafali Verma in just the secondover of the match, Smriti Mandhana (40 off 51) and Yatika Bhatia (26 off 34) built a crucial 54 run partnership for the second wicket. Charlotte Dean provided the breakthrough. Mandhana and Harmanpreet (143 off 111) added 33 more runs for the third wicket. Sophie Ecclestone caught the former captain. After that, Harmanpreet and Deol (58 off 72) built a massive partnership of 113 runs.
Chasing the massive target, Tammy Beaumont was run out by the skipper in just second over. Renuka took the wickets of Sophia Dunkley’s stumps in the fourth over and England was 12/2. Emma Lamb (15 off 16) and Alice Capsey (39 off 36) added 35 runs for the third wicket before the Indian pacer dismissed the former. Capsey and Danielle Wyatt (65 off 58) put up a 55-run partnership but Deepti sent the youngster to pavilion.

India now go into Lord’s, It will be Jhulan Goswami’s farewell game with the series in their pocket. It is the first since 1999.
