IND vs NEP Asia Cup 2023: Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has taken an off from the upcoming match at the Asia Cup 2023 versus Nepal on 4th September (Today) as he departed from Colombo to Mumbai for personal reasons. As per the reports, Bumrah is awaiting the birth of his first child with his wife, Sanjana Ganesan, which is the reason for his return to home.
Jasprit Bumrah absent due to personal reasons
Jasprit Bumrah marked his comeback to the Indian ODI squad during the highly anticipated match against Pakistan on Saturday. However, he couldn’t bowl in the match as rain disrupted play at the Pallekele International Stadium in Kandy.
Jasprit Bumrah is anticipated to rejoin the Indian team during the Super Fours stage in Sri Lanka. For their second match against Nepal on September 4, Mohammed Shami will take his place in the Indian playing XI. India must secure a victory against Nepal to advance to the next round, which commences on September 6.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has honored Jasprit Bumrah’s request to prioritize this significant personal moment. Consequently, Bumrah returned to Mumbai. It’s important to note that his absence is not related to any fitness concerns; it is solely due to personal reasons.
Jasprit Bumrah’s recent form
Jasprit Bumrah, surprisingly, emerged as the third-highest scorer for India, contributing 16 vital runs to their total of 266. Bumrah showed excellent form while captaining India in the T20I series in Ireland last month, where he secured four wickets in three matches, tying as the joint-highest wicket-taker alongside his teammates Ravi Bishnoi and Prasidh Krishna.
