The hosts have a 1-0 lead in the three-match series after winning the first encounter in Hyderabad by 12 runs.
Rohit had tough time to recall
This is the venue’s maiden international game, and it is the country’s 50th site to hold an international ODI. Meanwhile, at the toss, Indian captain Rohit Sharma took too long to determine what to do, eventually electing to field first, while New Zealand captain Tom Latham and match referee Javagal Srinath all laughed with him. At the same time, people mocked him on social media.
After the referee said that Rohit had won the toss he took a few seconds to recall on what the team had decided. He remarked by saying, “I forgot what we wanted to do, had plenty of discussions with the team about the toss decision, just wanted to challenge ourselves under difficult conditions, but we’ll bowl first. Was a good test for us [in Hyderabad], knowing that the wicket would get better to bat on, and that was the challenge in front of us.” Meanwhile, Yuzvendra Chahal and Mohammed Siraj were also spotted laughing in the background.
