IND vs NZ: Captain Rohit Sharma scores first ODI ton in 3 years, equals Ponting’s record

IND vs NZ: India captain Rohit Sharma has brought up his 30th ODI hundred in the third and final ODI vs New Zealand at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. After being sent to bat, Rohit and Shubman Gill added over 150 runs for the first wicket which was their highest in the format. Rohit got good support from Shubman Gill who ended up getting 112 runs in just 78 balls. With this hundred he has also equalled Ricky Ponting (30) record of third most centuries in ODI cricket. Only Virat Kohli with (46*) and Sachin Tendulkar (49) sit above him.

Captain Rohit in good touch

Rohit looked in good touch right from the start of the innings and smashed 6 sixes and 9 fours in his knock so far.

This was also Rohit’s first century in international cricket after September 2021. The opener ended 2022 without scoring a ton which happened for the very first time after 2012.

New Zealand out of touch

New Zealand bowlers looked completely out of touch during India’s batting and they bowled on bad lengths, resulting in Gill and Rohit’s scoring runs at over 8 runs per over before in the first 20 overs.
