Gautam Gambhir expresses his disappointment

The Lucknow pitch caused a controversy due to its substandard conditions, which were deemed unplayable by many. The former India cricketer and mentor of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Gautam Gambhir, also expressed his disappointment with the state of the pitch. As a result of these criticisms, the pitch curator has been dismissed and a new pitch will be created for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) tournament.

The pitch conditions were so poor that New Zealand was only able to score 99 runs, the lowest ever for the team, when batting first. Chasing a target of 100 runs was not an easy task for the Indian team. The match was closely contested and came down to the wire, with Suryakumar Yadav hitting the winning runs to level the series.
