IND vs NZ: Ruturaj Gaikwad, a white-ball opening prospect for India, has been excluded from the three-match T20I series against New Zealand due to wrist pain. The 25-year-old has registered at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru to receive treatment for his injury.
He missed the T20I match against Sri Lanka in 2017
The last time Gaikwad played was when Maharashtra faced Hyderabad in a Ranji Trophy match. In that game, he recorded a score of 8 to 0, and afterward, he informed the BCCI of his wrist condition. Actually, this is the second time Gaikwad has experienced wrist pain. Due to a similar injury, he missed the T20I match against Sri Lanka in 2017. After testing positive for Covid last year, he also missed the home ODI matches against the West Indies.
Gaikwad’s frequent absences due to illness or injurie
It is clear that Gaikwad’s frequent absences from work due to illness or injuries has angered the national team’s decision-makers and brains trust. However, they won’t look for a replacement for this series, which increases the likelihood that Prithvi Shaw will return and take part. When an NCA report on Ravindra Jadeja’s fitness levels becomes available on February 1, the BCCI will decide whether he is ready to begin the Border-Gavaskar series.
