Fastest To Reach 2000 Runs
The crowned prince of India became the fastest player to reach 2,000 runs in the world. It took him only 38 innings to reach the milestone with a sensational average of 62.88. Gill was only 14 runs short of 2,000 runs when he came to bat in this match.
He broke a 12-year old record set by Hashim Amla who completed 2000 runs in 40 innings. It was said that no batsman would be able to break that record. But Gill broke that record in style by hitting a drive to Trent Boult.
Before Gill, Shikhar Dhawan was the fastest Indian to reach 2000 runs and achieved the feat in his 48th inning. It feels like Gill is playing cricket in east mode and no challenge is big enough for him. Especially in the white ball cricket.
