IND vs NZ: In the second T20I of the three-match series on Sunday, Team India defeated New Zealand by 65 runs thanks to Suryakumar Yadav’s unbeaten 111-run knock and a determined bowling effort from the bowlers. With this victory, Team India now leads the three-match series 1-0. Deepak Hooda returned for India with four wickets.
Suryakumar Yadav’s valiant ton powered India
Earlier, Team India reached 191/6 in 20 overs because to Suryakumar Yadav’s unbroken 111-run innings. After the early loss of wickets, Suryakumar blasted 111* off 51 balls to keep Team India’s momentum going. In the final over, Tim Southee claimed a hat-trick for New Zealand, and Lockie Ferguson also claimed two wickets.
Ishan Kishan played a knock of 36 runs off 31 balls in addition to Suryakumar. Kane Williamson, the captain of New Zealand, earlier decided to bowl first after winning the toss. However, Deepak Hooda’s brilliant spell of four wickets in 2.5 overs while shelling just 10 runs ensured India a clinical victory.
Indian batters strike rate is a cause of worry
No other Indian batter could do much significant part in the game as they mostly relied on sky’s heroics. Moreover, stats wise, Suryakumar Yadav played his knock with a strike rate of 217.65 while the rest of India batters who scored just 69 runs off 69 balls, did so with the strike rate of 100.00
This contrasting difference is a cause of worry for fans and BCCI as they are looking for a complete overhaul for the team as they prepare themselves for the 2024 World Cup.
