IND VS NZ: India and New Zealand played the first one-day international of their three-match series yesterday at the Hyderabad ground. In an exciting game, Team India won by 12 runs and took a 1-0 series lead. However, Shubman Gill, Team India’s opener, scored a brilliant double century, becoming the eighth batsman in the world and the fifth Indian to do so. After the game, Gill’s video was interviewed by the team’s captain, Rohit Sharma, and wicketkeeper batsman, Ishan Kishan, both of whom have already scored a double century in ODIs.

Following the 12-run victory over New Zealand in the opening ODI, captain Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan interview Shubman Gill. The interaction between the three was very enjoyable. With the caption “1 frame 3 ODI double century and when you are the captain, expect lots of fun, laughter, and insight,” the Indian Cricket Council (BCCI) posted this video on its Twitter account.
Captain Rohit Sharma praised
In the post-match presentation following the victory, Team India captain Rohit Sharma praised Shubman Gill, saying, “Gill is progressing very well. We supported him in the Sri Lanka series because we wanted to capitalise on his current form. Free-flowing batsmen make for an exhilarating spectacle.” Gill also won the match’s man of the match award as a result of his outstanding performance.
