IND vs NZ: With his first three-digit score in more over 500 days, Rohit Sharma broke his century drought. The India skipper had little need to be unhappy despite losing the toss considering how match turned out when his New Zealand counterpart Tom Latham requested the hosts to bat. In just 83 balls, Rohit smashed his 30th ODI century. He also put together an amazing 212-run opening stand with Shubman Gill.
Suryakumar Yadav’s funny reaction to Rohit’s century
Rohit’s long-awaited century was eventually achieved, after a lengthy wait. While it wasn’t as lengthy as Virat Kohli, the India skipper finally got rid of the monkey off his back after going the year 2022 without scoring a single hundred in any format. Although Rohit’s form wasn’t a cause for concern—he was consistently getting starts and scoring 50s, 70s, and 80s—a century evaded him. Rohit’s performance of 101 off 85 balls will allow a cricket country obsessed with statistics and hundreds to heave a tremendous sigh of relief.
The Indore audience exploded into applause as soon as Rohit completed his 100th run with a single, inspiring the Indian skipper. At Rohit’s fantastic knock, the whole Indian dugout rose to their feet and applauded. Everyone liked Suryakumar Yadav’s kindness, however one of his actions raised some concerns. Surya cheered with a dazzling smile on his face but then made a six-signaling gesture with his hands. Only SKY would know whether he meant for Rohit to score more sixes, but either way, it was a special moment.

The loss of India’s first two wickets caused them to lose their way. Although Virat Kohli, Surya, and Ishan Kishan all made an effort to contribute, India suffered as a result of their imitation of Gill and Rohit. As India’s quest for 400 got more difficult with each wicket lost, New Zealand rallied back with two wickets apiece from Blair Tickner and Jacob Duffy.
