Under the leadership of Babar Azam, Pakistan’s lineup features a three-pronged pace attack supported by three spin-bowling all-rounders. One position that was under discussion in recent times was that of Iftikhar Ahmed, but his remarkable century against Nepal has all but solidified his place in the XI.
Despite their emphatic 238-run win against Nepal, Pakistan is bracing for a formidable challenge against a near full-strength Indian team in this marquee clash.
India, on the other hand, faces some key decisions for the match, including where Ishan Kishan will bat. The wicketkeeper-batsman is expected to feature in the XI, especially with KL Rahul sidelined for the initial matches. India must also decide between Axar Patel and Shardul Thakur for the No.8 position to bolster their batting or opt for a bowling-heavy lineup that includes Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami, and Kuldeep Yadav.
Pakistan’s Playing XI: Fakhar Zaman, Imam Ul Haq, Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Agha Salman, Iftikhar Ahmed, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Nawaz, Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf.
